Our family’s paternal great great grandfather was Stephen Goring (B April 14, 1823 D April 4, 1904). He was born in East Grinstead, Sussex, England. His Father, was Thomas Goring and his mother was Susannah Chaplin. Stephen was a railway man – he married Elizabeth Eliza Vaughan on July 13, 1844 and in 1871 he and most of his family emigrated to Canada to work for the Grand Trunk Railway, settling on Rama Road in Langford Mills, Ramara Township, Langford Mills (near Orillia, Ontario). They had 12 known children including my great grandfather George Henry Goring (1847-1876) who died in an railway accident and left his widow Annie Siddle, with three young children.
